Profile Information

What is the focus of your present work?
I am involved in a number of projects focussed on social issues in the Arab region, particularly challenges facing women and youth.
Can you briefly summarize your past achievements?
I did my PhD in immunology at the University of Cambridge, and then worked for several years as Healthcare Correspondent at The Economist. Since September 11th, my career has "re-oriented" to the Arab world; I am now based at the American University in Cairo, working on a number of international initiatives on Islam and the Arab region.

As a Fellow, we know you have a commitment to making the world a better place. How would you describe your motivation and aspirations in this context?
I look forward to collaborating with Fellows on initiatives in the Arab world, particular those addressing urgent social challenges in the region.
