What is the focus of your present work?
My current research interest includes:

Can you briefly summarize your past achievements?
I am a twenty year veteran who served eight years in the Marine Corps Reserve as an Ammunition Technician before being commissioned through Navy Officer Candidate School, Pensacola, Florida in February 1997. I have served sea tours onboard two Guided Missile Frigates and a Destroyer Squadron where I deployed onboard a Nuclear Aircraft Carrier and Guided Missile Destroyer. My shore assignments include Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Atlantic Fleet followed by my current assignment as the Aide to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations in Washington D.C.

As a Fellow, we know you have a commitment to making the world a better place. How would you describe your motivation and aspirations in this context?
I'm not a futurist...at least not in the sense that most would think. I'm a military tactician who understands the value of futuring and strategic foresight. My main interest lies in how futures methods can be used by the military to pinpoint future national security threats, generate a range of possible security related futures and transform defense planning. However, rather than consider the traditional perspective on conflict (as many others do), I choose to focus on the second and third order causes of conflict such as:

1. Governance and Community Trends
2. Technology and Science Trends
3. Learning and Education Trends
4. Social and Cultural Trends
