Global Collaborators' Alliance

Global Collaborators' Alliance (formerly The FutureShapers Collaborative)

What is required of me as a Fellow?
Once you have registered and completed your profile (with picture, web links and enough information about yourself so other Fellows will feel they know you), any collaborations are completely voluntary.

is there any cost to being a Fellow?
There are no financial obligations or time requirements associated with being a Fellow. You may be tempted to volunteer to help another Fellow, offer to do something for the Alliance or join a collaborative activity but that is your choice. It is foreseeable Fellows will receive and give freely to one another, as they are moved to do, once they see the alignments with one another and as sense of community amongst the fellowship develops.

How private is this network?
While anyone can visit our site and read about Fellows and  whatever other content we  have posted,  only the Fellows will be able to add or modify content. The Fellows community is starting out as fewer than eighty people and will grow only by invitation to people nominated by the Fellows. The Fellows body is not expected to become very large but there will be no limit to the number of visitors.

Will there be any meetings to attend?
The only meetings to attend would be those you convene or wish to attend. Given the global variances in people's locations, physical meetings might tend to be one-on-one meetings arranged between Fellows privately. The Alliance will have a virtual meeting space available courtesy of one of our fellows - Debbe Kennedy - at the Global Dialogue Center - which can be arranged for by the Secretariat on behalf of the participating Fellows.

How Large Will the Fellowship Body Become?
The size of this Alliance will  remain  "club size" allowing Fellows to be familiar enough with one another and not get lost in sheer numbers. To begin, it was thought the founding body of Fellows should be 60 - 70 people. Thereafter, any increase in size will be self-determined by the Fellow, allowing for some time to live with the founding size and observing how easily and frequently voluntary collaborations arise. Expansion of the number of the Fellows body will depend on the existing members, similarly to the
World Academy of Art and Science.

Who runs things for the Alliance?

The Secretariat (presently based in the U.S.) handles day-to-day operations for the Alliance. In addition to serving as the communications channel among Fellows and with external parties, these are some additional duties for the Secretariat:

1.    Serve as a founding director and ex-officio member of the executive committee;

2.    Oversee administrative details (filings with governing authorities and regulators, serve as board meeting  secretary, and maintain the organization’s physical address);

3.    Systematically poll Fellows on matters requiring consensus;

4.    Serve as representative of the Alliance to the world at large;

5.    Oversee the Alliance’s website and functioning so it serves the Fellows;

6.    Organize and present “content threads” for Fellows response, as requested by individual Fellows;

7.    Generate pertinent content possibilities from analysis of broad cultural sources;

8.    Maintain the dialogue processes as needed for website;

9.    Coordinate collaborations arising among the Fellows, at their request;

10. Provide regular written updates of activities and notable events to the Fellows as a body;

11. Invite new candidates to become Fellows in the Alliance, as they may be nominated by the Fellows body; and

12. Seek funding from a generous source.

What is the function of the Alliance's Executive Committee?

The Executive Committee is responsible for the Alliance complying with the laws of the state of Connecticut and the IRS rules for non-profit organizations, and shall direct the Secretariat accordingly. Members of the Committee shall also guide the business matters of the Alliance.
